FAQs

What is social media marketing?

Social Media Marketing is the simple act of applying new (social) tools to some of the tried and true marketing practices. While it would be easy to say that we’re simply applying new tools, the difference doesn’t stop there. Social Media has made it possible for the consumer to communicate directly to the corporation. Obviously, this makes it really important to communicate back, in effect starting a conversation. Many of the same standards still apply, but the fast and inexpensive nature of communicating on the internet in real-time has accelerated marketing processes.

Why do I need to engage my customers through these new media?

Because they are already talking about you. The only choice you have now is how you choose to present yourself in the conversation. Many companies are finding that it makes sense to get into the fray, communicate with their prospects, engage with happy clients and focus on how to create an even better experience for their users.

So, should I do away with traditional media?

Absolutely not. I started in traditional media and there are still times when I bring out the standard marketing playbook. When you have a solid traditional media strategy and a plan for how your company will use social media, you have an advantage in presenting a cohesive and polished, yet personal brand.

How do I measure the effectiveness of a social media campaign or strategy?

Increased web traffic is one key indicator, but there are many more. For example, sales, interaction with your users, increased leads for your sales team, higher employee engagement, better search rankings, more effective PR, customer and brand loyalty and in the end, profits! Your proposal can include montitoring for all of these metrics.
